That’s Life…Brian’s Way!

El Bob’s dear friends.

Here is a slideshow full of our favourite memories. Behind the camera in earlier days then growing to love having his photo taken – including a selfie! The original slideshow was set to Frank Sinatra’s “That’s Life” and “My Way” so for full effect we suggest muting this copyright free music and listening to those!!

Thank you all so much for the posts and tributes to dad; for all your kind words and messages sending love and support. It has been overwhelming and comforting.

We think dad would be more than a little chuffed with this video and the words written about him and his life.

We hope you enjoy.

A life well lived. Loved and never forgotten.

El Bobs family

xx

  1. False start! I’ll have to remove the music and try again. Youtube have blocked it 😦

  2. Great seeing another photo of his smiling face (the way I’ll remember him despite is oft obstreperous nature online).

Sadly, the video is blocked from viewing, at least for me in the US. I also tried connecting from Australia, Canada, and the UK.

It’s blocked on copyright violations by WMG (Warner Music Group). I suspect the author of the video added music that’s claimed under the copyright license of WMG.

If there’s nothing else proprietary in the video, removing the music (or using royalty-free music like the ones here: https://www.bensound.com/ and giving credit to the site) should allow the movie to play.

In any event, thank you for the post.

  10. A huge thank you to you, Sarah (and other family members) for putting this retrospective together. The smile and atty-tude are so Brian! As is the flop of hair that gives him that impish look. Thanks for giving us this magnificent glimpse into his life. It was sometimes a pleasure, and always a privilege to know him via his ramblings.
Blessings to you and the family,
    Elouise

Every so often, I look up and think, “Darn – Brian would have something clever and entertaining to say about that!”
Thanks for including a little bit more.

  14. I love seeing this. It has brightened my day. What a magnificent smile. It matches his huge heart and soul. He was one of the kindest people to ever come into my life…even from a distance. He never met me, but i consider him to be a friend. Cheers for this burst of light.

  15. Thanks to GarrulousGwendoline, I was alerted to this lovely memorial to Brian. What a dynamite smile he had! And, we finally got to see TWO (The War Office, as you no doubt know).

He certainly made an impact on the folks who read his blog, even if we never did get to meet him.

Thank you, again, for being such a wonderful friend to so many of us here on WordPress!
At the beginning of each new January, instead of writing resolutions, I write a list of things and people I am thankful were a part of my life in the past year…and you were on my list.

  23. Remembering ElBob on the anniversary of him leaving us.

For just a moment, when I chance on Brian’s comments on my and other people’s blogs, it’s like he never left. It’s also a reminder of the impact he had on so many people and of how much he is missed.
