Yesterday Monday the 4th March, (my dads 114th birthday) at 1150 hours my Internet dropped out.
It wasn’t my new ISP, although I spent over 2 hours on a mobile phone with them, over several calls, not just the one; and got nowhere.
The fault was with the National Broadband Network, forced upon us by a government in disarray.
Not only did this fault take out the Internet, it also took out the telephone, and the cable TV, much to the War Office’ s horror.
And when did the NBN clowns finally get it back on? at 16.30 hours today, cut off for almost 30 hours!
I was assured by my ISP that the NBN’s “specialists” would have it up, and running at 2130 hours; last night. It turns out that they couldn’t get it fixed, so they decided to knock off work for the night, and have another go this morning. I kid you not!
Can you believe that?
As I said it came back on late this afternoon.
Needing something to occupy me, I decided to write a follow up post on one of my reblogs, that a couple are following, which I did in my MS/ Office 2010 thing, and so for your pleasure and amusement, I’m now going to toddle off,ย copy and paste it into one of these things, and hope for the best.
If it works out I might do it that way more often; I wonder if it’ll keep the nice font that I used…….
‘
You’re allowed to be a very grumpy oldish man, with this NBN fiasco. All that money spent, ours I guess, and they still couldn’t get it right. Why are we not surprised?
Your fellow grump. xx

I blame Malcolm Turnbull, he should have gone with the ALP’s plan instead of going with Mr rupert murdock’s. Malcolm was really an ALP man but he knew he would never lead us so he went the other way joined the libs. What they call ambition what I call selfish.
Welcome back Yvonne nice to see your happy smiling comment

My heart sank when I started reading. All this right after your previous computer problems.
Down 30 hours is absurd!! At least here they’d have had every man on deck 24/7 working on it. Nobody sleeping till the problem was fixed.

Yes but this is Australia, and it’ll be Jake, is the credo of the Australian worker.

That is an unacceptable state of affairs. I should ask for compensation. No service for thirty hours deserves a discount off your next bill plus inconvenience money! ๐

That long? I’m surprised there were’t riots in the streets and mass suicides. How frustrating decision makers there didn’t kick people out of bed and into repair mode immediately.
Whew. Glad you’re back and up and running

This is Australia Phil and the attitude is ‘She’ll be Jake!” The problem will still be here tomorrow so we may as well come back and fix it then. Australians are supposedly a laconic lot; sometimes that take it too far, but then again I’m over it now and am happy to be back and the anger has subsided. ๐

See – procrastination isn’t totally indicative of continent – here the regional and used forever phrase meaning exactly the same thing is “maรฑana”.
Ya gotta roll with the outages of life HAHA (and learn to do as much of the jury rigging/jerry rigging yourself when possible?)
