🎕Loyal Lisa🎕

 or

🎕Lisa the Loyal🎕

This is a post that is long overdue, a post of thanks and a post of humility.

Over the past few years, I’ve been fortunate enough, to acquire the following of a small number of fellow “bloggers”; and we communicate regularly, either through our posts ( I prefer posts to blogs), or through e-mail.

You may have noticed that I do not shy away from e-mail contact as my address is displayed for all to see.

Many of you are kind to me, acknowledge, and spare the time, to read, and then comment on the codswallop 🙂 I post.

Might I even say humour me at times? 🙂

Lisa is different!

I have known Lisa for many years. even more that she will admit to, she believes that it was early in the 21st century when we met. I know it was in the 20th!

So I must digress; which isn’t hard for me to do.

My son, Nathan Sebastian, as a boy, wanted to be the new Don Bradman, ( I do have a taped recording of him: when he was about 3 or 4 years of age, – he was asked his name, and he replied Nathan Sebastian Don Bradman Smith,)  as he was too young to play cricket, he had to  play TeeBall ; and then Baseball if he wanted to belt a ball!

Much to his, and our family’s delight, he became a  🌟; but this is not about Nathan Sebastian it’s about Lisa.

Lisa lives in Kentucky, US of A, home of Bourbon, and also the  Louisville Slugger; she would follow my amateur rants, and raves, regarding the prowess of my young son in various game rooms, (where I also met Cuddlybuggs he who was responsible for my elevation to the nobility), which we frequented back in the early days of the Internet, and we hit on  a friendship.

There was one period when my boy was really shining and Lisa wanted to send him a genuine Louisville Slugger Bat, the epitome of bats for any baseball player. I would not give her an address.

And why wouldn’t I ?

Lisa is a sole parent, and at the time had, shall we say, troublesome children, and there was no way I could let her buy, and send, Nathan Sebastian, the pinnacle of baseball bats.

When did this happen? 1997!

That year was the final year my son played the junior league; the year he won the premiership for his team, and every award going. I remember that last day as if it was today.

So as you see I’ve known Lisa for a very long time; time that’s taken toll on both of us, none more so than Lisa, she has had to submit to many operations to the heart, and still it keeps beating, because it is huge!

Lisa, by profession, is a fully qualified nurse, not a stranger to an operating theatre from the medical side, and knows what to expect, and proceeds with great courage each time she has to go ‘under’ I think four times now.

We used to joke, long before I went to the States the first time, what fun it would be to sit at her kitchen table, and she’d feed me ‘grits’, while I tried to educate her children, I wish now that I’d have been able to go down to Kentucky, at least once of  the two occasions, I’ve holiday’d in the States,

We had a great deal of fun, and chat in those early days of the Internet.

Lisa doesn’t post/blog, but she does follow my ramblings, and from time to time, makes a comment, She drops me a line via e-mail now and then.

I think of Lisa often and think of her always as a very dear friend, yet we have never met.

Lisa.

  1. What a great story, Beari. It is amazing to me at how close we get to some of the bloggers, especially since I never in a million years would have thought I’d ever go on-line!!

    1. True stories always are GP; I like to have my email address so that people can write me if they want, I’ve never had any that I’ve found obnoxious enough to ban.
As soon as I knew I could go on line I went, couldn’t wait; one can never be or feel lonely since it;s advent.

Oh my, you made me cry, this could be one of the nicest thing anyone has ever said about me. I also am sorry we never made it to my kitchen table, I am sure we would have spent several days there catching up on everything. As for grits,,, I can’t stand the nasty stuff. Now if you want some fried chicken and mashed potatoes i can feed you well. Right now my health is stable, I hope the same for you. I love you my dear friend, and love reading everything you post.
