CRASH! BANG! WALLOP!

I haven’t gone ‘walkabout’, you couldn’t be that lucky, and speaking of luck, my delightful Hewlitt Packard computer has blown up not once, not twice, BUT THREE TIMES since Friday; and each time I’ve had to reload everything!

And Microsoft is not making my life any easier, to the contrary they’re doing everything in their power to make my life hell!

I’m not the happiest little Vegimite in Australia at the moment.

I’m hoping this time it’s fixed properly, and I can get back to annoying some, and boring others and enjoy myself doing it 👿

  1. Blasted Microsoft, it’s so difficult to get help from them, it seems. Good luck, Dwarf number 2! (I think you’ll know which one that is, it’s not Bashful.) ❤

    1. They just take over the computers. You have no say in what you want, you have to have their rubbish like it or lump it.
I like to use the Opera browser but they won’t allow it, I must use their Edge, which is rubbish, I’ve tried all the supposed ways toget rid of it, but they don’t work, edge keeps coming back. Obviously microsift has something in built into all their stuff, that allows them to take control, of all computers using their system.
      Gesundheit.

      1. I use Google Chrome, it seems to work okay.

        So, are you Sneezy, then?

      2. Tech support people do have ways to take over your computer in order to fix it. But once they are finished, you should be able to specify another browser as your default browser of choice. And delete Edge. Even if you can’t or don’t delete it, it shouldn’t come up if you specify a different browser as your default. (I’ve used Chrome for quite a few years.)

Meanwhile, I certainly hope your computer is fixed this time. I’d be a nervous wreck in just a few hours if anything happened to mine.

        1. There used to be ways to delete Edge, but microsoft have even managed to stop that. I’ve been trying without success,
At the moment I’m watching my new NFL favourite, Mahomes, and the Chiefs close game ; too many penalties goiung against the Chiefs to my way of thinking. Think the Rams have got to the umpires 😈

  2. I use Chrome, and it works fine. No one seems to be talking about the Gutenberg Editor, which WordPress is threatening to foist upon all of us. I think the fun will start when do that, which is supposed to happen next week, worse luck!

    1. Trouble is now with Windows 10, if you have to reload because of a crash, you cannot select your own browser; you get Edge like it or not. It just takes over.
I’ve been using Opera for, must be ten, years now, and I’m used to it, I have tried Chrome. at times and couldn’t find fault with it.
I’m dreading this new WP. Think I’ll have to resurrect the one I had on Google years ago. I think it’s wrong that we cannot opt out if we don’t want what they want, especially when we pay to use WP.

      1. The new WP editor is going to be a disaster I guarantee it. I am still using the one before last but I expect they will remove that any day soon. If I don’t like the new editor I might give up and get a new hobby instead.

        1. The trouble is they don’t give us any option, it’s take it or leave it, and then they have the temerity to charge us!
I used to have a ‘blog”; through Google and did just copied and posted my WP bposts onto it. I might see if I can resurrect it and swith to using that if the WP turns out ae bad as I suspect.

        2. I suspect we need to make contingency plans. In my experience WP upgrades are usually disappointing. Luckily I don’t pay! I am still using the very old editor but functions that I like sometimes just disappear. I haven’t tried the new editor yet, the idea frightens me.

I have been blogging here for 10 years, I need an excuse to pack it in!

        4. I’ve managed to find that other ‘blog’ site, that I started on years ago. I wasn’t allowed to use my usual name/whatever lordbeariofbow; seems that’s now the property of WP; which they will sell me if I ask nicely.
Anyway I named the other site BowBellsBeari. and it’s still there; but that’s now owned by Google, and they’ve even had the temerity to offer me many new names incorporating beari.; at $18.00 a pop; which if you’ve ever read how I became ennobled you’d know the origins of beari and why it’s my name not theirs.
It’s a pretty dreary web experience but it may turn out to be better than the new WP that they want to shove down our throats, if you want to see what blogger looks like have a gig at

  4. Also have Windows 10 but I don’t use Edge. I use Firefox as the default browser, but for good measure I also have Google Chrome. If you download another browser you should be able to specify at the time that you wish it to be the default browser.

I hope the technical stuff is sorted soon.

    1. I had no trouble using my Opera or Google Chrome before, but having to reload the O/S the Windows 10 that I now have, has managed to stop that, 😦 so lets hope you don’t have to update YOUR windows 10.
Still working to get the damned thing running properly. 😥

      1. I have an IT technician friend who turned off all updates on his computer. He swears Microsoft updates are responsible for half the computer problems.

My own is running slow on start up and I’ve had the odd message ‘New program has been added to start up’. I think I might take a screen shot of the Start Up menu and try to find out what is unnecessary.

        1. I have Updates turned off on mine too, every now and then when I have to go to microsoft they manage to slip in and turn it back on, however knowing this I’m ready for them and go turn it off staight away. It’s quite easy to turn them off.

        2. I looked at the Start Up menu and disabled those programs using high memory that I didn’t think I needed and now it’s running much quicker. I don’t have my updates turned off but will do that if I have problems.

  5. Edge has not got the edge; it is often dodgy.
Frequently, too, it won’t give me the search results I need, while Google will.

    1. I think the people at microsoft believe in the flat earth policy and are trying to push we non believers over that edge; methinks they might be suceeeding in my case.

      1. The systems that are supposed to be designed to be more tablet-friendly become so increasingly difficult to operate that one now battles to carry out functions one first mastered a decade ago. I love the way, in Word, that heading commands disappear and will only reappear if one selects a certain mode or item.

        1. It occurs to me, that wall these tech places, have a department, who’s sole purpose for existing, is to make things irrelevant, and difficult; with the intent of showing we plebeians, just how smart they are; not !

Still sorting out the problems maybe it will get back to normal sometime soon 😩😞

  8. We are waiting happily for you to annoy us more.
Microsoft is such a bully – impossible to fight back. Hope you’re up and running soon.
Not looking forward to the new WP…maybe they want to completely give WP over to companies who will pay much money to them …bloggers are such annoying little mooches? Everything WP does over the past year or so seems to be beneficial to business, but annoying to bloggers who for years have supported WP with their posts and traffic. (We’d better all start exchanging emails – so many long term bloggers are signing off. Sigh. Hate to think of not hearing from friends gained over these years)

    1. Nothing to look forward to so I don’t blame your trepidation.
Never one to stand in the way of progress, I tried the new editor and for a full two weeks. My verdict is not good. Photographs would only insert at the start of the page and remained small. Saving my work was hit and miss so have reverted to the more straight forward Classic!

      1. similar experience when experimenting with the editor.
Came to blogging on WP for ease of use and fun, not of gnashing teeth and workarounds for survival. We’ll see. Thanks for the update
