“Here is the news, and this is Alvar Lidell reading it”

For those of you wondering what in the name of Hades is this bloke rambling about now; Alvar Lidell was, and still is to many, the epitome of a newsreader.

He once became very excited,  completely forgot himself, and started the broadcast on the wireless with the following:

“Here is the news, and cracking good news it is too!”

At five minutes past noon today, I said “Good morning Oonagh” as I entered the waiting room at the Forum Medical Centre; to which she replied “Good afternoon Brian”, “is he running late Oonagh?”  I ask. “No ” Says she, he’s been on time all morning.

After reviving me from the shock of her revelation, she asked how Coco was going since his operation; so I showed her  the photo’s that I’d taken of him, post op, and gave her an update on how he’s going.

Oonagh who thinks Coco is a most gorgeous dog,  went on to tell me, that Doctor Francis had just bought himself a new dog; which he’s skiting about, and at that moment the man himself appeared,  👴 right on 12.15, and called me in.

“G’day Doc” says me, ” Oonagh tells me you’ve bought yourself a new dog”.  requiring no further invitation, he whips out his mobile phone thingy, to show me the pictures of his new dog.

It’s a real little sweetie, a King Charles/mini poodle cross, 🐾 🐩   🐾 🐩I  said “that must have cost you an arm, and a leg, bloke I know at the park has one, paid 3 thou for it”.

The doc’s cost more. He then tells me that he’d met his dogs parents, and the people who belong to them, and gives me their pedigree; his dogs parents , not their peoples. He tries to tell me he bought it for his wife, must think I came down in the last shower: 😈

I’d remembered to bring all the stuff from Quantum this time, and he tells me he doesn’t need them; he’s got it all on his computer, he asks me how I’m feeling and I tell him “not bad for a young bloke, get a bit tired”, he then informs me that the nodule is not cancer, got a bit technical, (which goes right over my head) and told me that where they removed my stomach, and  pulled some of the bowel up. to fashion a substitute. a hernia had formed, and this was what was showing up.😲

It was nothing to worry about, and unless it caused me any pain, or discomfort, not worth worrying about, I asked who was worrying.

He told me I’m going to be around for a while yet and won’t be dying on his watch, what an odd thing to say!
