“Hear Him”, “Hear Him”

If it’s a plummy pollie, it’s “Hearar, Hearar” or something like that. If it’s a pollie from the East End, it’s probably ” ‘ear, ‘rear“.

Be that as it may, that has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with todays little ramble.

Three weeks ago, I said farewell to my local GP, Doctor Ping Nee Lee, I was sorry to see her leave. An excellent, caring  doctor, who I found, very easy to talk to, and to obey. Well up to a point.

Doctor Francis, who is in command at the Forum Medical Centre, was extremely sorry to lose her, and told me that he hopes she will return sometime in the future, when all her obligations have been taken care of; was going to say fulfilled, but then I’d have sounded a bit like the aforementioned pollies, with a plum stuck in my mouth.

I knew she was leaving, just didn’t know when, when I went to see her on the Wednesday, that’d be the 31st January. She gave me a good going over. Gave me my annual referral to the podiatrist, and also a referral to get my ears tested; something I had not requested, but she felt I needed and insisted on my going.

How could I not agree?

As I was leaving she wished me well and said “Goodbye”, this was her last day, and my last appointment, we shook hands, I said nothing. I had something stuck in my throat, and my eyes were kind of glazed over and I departed, somewhat dis-spirited. 😥

Pretty selfish of me in a way, she was leaving to pursue higher qualifications and experience to become an even better doctor.

There are a lot of unknowing people out there, will get the gift of Doctor Ping Nee Lee in years to come.

Anyway, I kept looking at this damned referral to the audiologist, off and on, over the next couple of weeks,  then decided I’d pop along and let them have a go at me.

The first time I called in they gave me an hearing test and here’s the result

Hearing Test

Seems I need some sort of hearing aide, can’t imagine why 😈 😛

Kind of reminds me of Spike Milligan’s epitaph, (which of course, he wrote) “See, I told you I was sick!”  and I’ve been telling y’all for yonks that I’m hard of hearing, so please type louder! 😈 😛 🐻

    1. I always reply to comments Lisa, I don’t know why you can’t see them, I don’t know if any notification is sent out.Perhaps you just have to check back and see
My mother used to say ‘ there are none as deaf as those that don’t want to hear and none as blind as those that don’t want to see” I thibk this was the only time she ever made sense. 😀

    2. Same here, Lisa. I scatter my pearls of wisdom, and they’re not appearing on M’Lord’s comment section. If I was a sensitive soul, I’d be worried that he doesn’t love me any more! Given that he perhaps never did, I guess it’s okay.

      1. For the record, I can see the above comment. Don’t know if there are more that should be here and aren’t showing up.

I also can’t speak to ElBob loving anyone. I know he likes Coco, and he also can’t seem to get enough of my blog, although I can’t rightly call that “love”.

  2. Hi. A good doc is so hard to find, at least in the us of a. Or for americans who would argue, it is very hard for those with little money and limited insurance. A hearing test, eh? I joke about needing an ear horn, though I am still blessed with good hearing, for a human. Cats have fantastic hearing–better than dogs, though I am sure Coco is in the upper echelon. I am practically screaming these words…can you hear me? Is anybody out there?

    1. “What” “type louder Pamela I can’t read you “; hear in Australia we are fortunate to have socialized medicine. Being an old codger I shall get hearing aides at no cost to me,
Coco does indeed have exceptional hearing. He hears a cockroach if it’s on the carpet. True. 🐻 🐱

      1. I hear you… (heh heh). I believe it. Here, though, the cockroaches are rather loud, huge, and aggressive. Coco would have a battle on his hands. But perhaps you also have formidable cockroaches there.

        1. Not really, we do sometimes get one or two come in and shelter from the rain. Coco did hear one under my bed a couple of weeks back and wasn’t satisfied until it was caught and exterminated> 😈

  3. A determined fellow, your Coco. These cats, too, are fearsome hunters. Natural predators. I am very glad you will get the hearing aids you need without hassle or great cost. That’s excellent. It’s good to know that somewhere in the world, taxes are actually used to help citizens. Glad to “hear” you posting.

    1. Actually I get them at no cost, but I still don’t want them, they are very uncomfortable and the sounds that you hear are almost as bad as the cicadas I live with 24/7 😥 🐻 🐱 😛

  4. Okay, I’m typing as loud as I can. So distressing to lose a doctor you know and trust. Turns my whole world upside down. Who will ever know me and my case as well as s/he? And at our ages, it’s more important than ever. Glad you’re going to do something about that hearing. Wouldn’t want to miss out on Poppy’s giggles, Coco’s barks, etc.

    Cheers!

Aw, it is difficult to lose a good doctor. 😦 But, like you said, she will go on to help many people. 🙂

Sorry to hear about your ears/hearing. Did you listen to a lot of LOUD rock music in the 1960’s?! Rolling Stones?! Or ???

Yes, do something about the hearing. You have a lot of good sounds to hear in the coming decades! And when you want to not hear, you can turn the darn thing down or off. 😉 😛 Especially when you’re in trouble with The War Office! 😉 HA! 😀

I’ve always thought I’d put on my headstone, “Hey, Doc, I told you I didn’t feel good!” 😉

I’ve never listened to the loud noise that purports to be music, I’m a Sinatra, Nat King Cole Ella Rosie sort of bloke. I was and still am a lover of Dixieland jazz, and music of the swing era.
My main love though has always been the classical music of Beethoven Mozart Schubert et al. And being an atheist 👿 :Dof course I enjoy the masses of old and auch religious music. O_o o_O 🙄

WEll you go for that headstaone if Spike could do it so can you . and if they wont tell ttham that ELBoB will come haunt them :D: 🐻 😛 😉

  8. On the positive side you have the opportunity to perfect the art of ‘selective deafness’ so you can filter out unwanted things like ‘can you help me with the washing up’ whilst retaining perfect hearing for things like ‘would you like a cold beer from the fridge?’

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Would yo believe I do the washing up, either manually or via the machine. I like to see my kitchen stuff sparkle. Probably stems from my doing all the cooking and trying to keep her inside out. No longer does the sound of a cold beer appeal, rarely drink it now. Think That has something to o with misplacing the you know what.
Still I have no doubt that your rrasoning is perfectly sound for any normal man 😦

  9. Nothing wrong with your hearing.
If only people just stopped mumbling and started enunciated clearly, all would be well.

Great excuse to ignore those you don’t want to bother with. Sometimes when tired of certain people my very proper grandmother would turn her hearing aid off – just nodded and smiled so pleasantly while happily daydreaming about being elsewhere, I imagine. (She told me not to tell)
    Great title!

  12. Thank you Phil 😀 I do believe thats something most of the hard of hearing do. My dear ol” dad never wanted, or bothered, with an hearing aid, I think he was glad of the peace after years of being on the receiving end of an ear bashing from my mother.
He was stone deaf by his mid 60’s may have been herifditary may have been from his work, 50 years a Blacksmith; what could be worse?
