Stoned out of my eyeballs. High as a kite!

On Wednesday, as I’d decided against whatever was planned for me, at the Radiology Dept. at the RPA, and cancelled out, I decided to pop along and see the one and only, Nurse Percy for my monthly shot. Β A big needle and I never feel a thing. Sometimes I wonder if I actually get the shot. Just kidding! πŸ˜€Β

Nurse Percy is absolutely amazing . ⭐

As the War Office was booked to see Dr. Ping Nee around 10, I booked me in to see her about a steroid injection that was proposed for my shoulder, apparently there’s some arthritis, or something developed, which is causing me some discomfort.

This was picked up a couple of months back when I had an MRI or some such scan on that area, Β but was put on hold, until Dr’s Lee and Sandroussi at the RPA had finished with me. As I’ve given up on that, I thought I might as well get shot full of steroids, and take up bike riding.

After viewing the scan things on her computer, Dr Ping Nee thought that perhaps it was not the arthritis bit that was causing the discomfort, and put me through some exercises with the arm and shoulder, and was seemingly convinced that the steroids wouldn’t do me any good. Bang goes my chance for Olympic fame! 😦

She was convinced that it was a nerve issue, not being very smart when it comes to the body, and aches and pains, I just go along, agree with the experts, and follow their advice; kind of. Β O_o o_O πŸ™„

Anyway; to make a short story long, she decided to give me some new drug that is designed for whatever it is she thought was causing the trouble; but instead of giving me a prescription to take to my chemist/pharmacist (for our Yankee cousins),she tapped something out on her computer, a few seconds later, ‘Knock-Knock’ on the door, “come in” cries Dr Ping Nee; and Nurse Percy enters, smiling and hands her two small cartons/packets. which are immediately handed to me.

“These are new, just been released and they’re free samples, so no scrip!” or words to that effect says the doctor; which was jolly decent of her. Saved me 5 or 6 dollars; thats about what seniors and pensioners pay for prescription medicine here in Australia, says he smugly.

“Take one at night, and see how you go” says Dr Ping Nee ( love that name, just rolls of the tongue) . So I did.

Around 21.00 I popped a pill, well actually it’s a small capsule, but popping a small capsule doesn’t have the same ring to it; and about an hour later I turned in for the night.

Went out like a light, I know I got up two, or three times, to answer the call of nature, but went straight back to sleep on falling back into bed.Β

Coco decided to wake me at 05.50 as he felt hungry and wanted his breakfast, he always feels hungry, eats more than I do and he only weighs in at 15-16 kg. I told him to go back to bed and come in half an hour.

He duly arrived back at 06.10, I need to teach him better, as there is no point arguing with a dog I arose, and went to the kitchen, got his food Β and fed him.

I warmed his rice & chicken, in the microwave thingy for a few seconds, and he stands there wagging his tail, added the Hills Science Diet dry stuff to his chicken & rice and he starts spinning in circles, one would think he’d never been fed before, and placed his bowl down. And he gobbled the lot in no time flat!

That over, it occurred to me that I was stoned. I felt as drunk as a lord, swaying and staggering around the kitchen, I was now sufficiently awake to understand this. Light headed and somewhat dizzy.Β

Penny dropped! The pill I’d popped a few hours earlier was to blame, but I didn’t care. as I began to realize that I’d had the best nights sleep in yonks; Β I had no aches and pains whatsoever.Β

Gathering what senses I had at my disposal, I decided to read the pamphlet that was in the pack of pills, ( see what I mean? Better than a pack of capsules; ennit? that bit’s for he knows). Β

Naturally it’s in very small print, which is obviously designed to put us off reading it. But read it I did. Was too stoned to do anything else! O_o o_O

The part about ‘Side effects’ got me; they took up half the info in the pamphlet, and I got to my symptoms, yes they were there in black and white, everything that I was experiencing.Β

And itΒ confidently stated that they would only be of short duration. Which pleased m enormously.

When the War Office arose, at a more reasonable hour, I was slightly more stable, wasn’t crashing into the walls or furniture; and told her why. She told me that “your not to take anymore pills, Β and no driving for you Β today”, (that was yesterday). I didn’t argue, in fact I told her that I had no intention of getting behind the wheel of the car! Hows that for being decisive? πŸ˜€

As the day wore on, I was feeling more normal, had no aches, in fact I felt very well indeed, best I’ve felt in a long time, and courageously told the W.O. that I intended to take another of those capsules, that night, to see what effect they had on me, if the side effects persisted, I told her I’d probably stop taking them. She gave me her permission! πŸ™„

This morning when Coco made his usual 05.50 call I got up feeling just slightly dizzy, I’d had another good nights rest, gave him his breakfast, and have been up ever since feeling quite spritely! Β

I intend to keep popping these pills! 😈

🐻

The other morning, Emma, my youngest daughter came by, with my granddaughters of course; to see if her mother had any photographs of her brother, my youngest son Nathan Sebastian, when he was very young

The War Office produced a box, chocker with photographs that I didn’t know existed, I know there are many photo albums, but was unaware of “The Box”.

There are some great pics, of very happy days, and if November is going to be another month, where we are challenged to post a ‘blog’ every day, then I just might bore the lot of you with family pics.

Can you just imagine 30 days of family photos πŸ‘Ώ

  1. Hello, our dizzy Lord. How excellent to be pain free, even though you suffered some slings and arrows of the dreaded side effects.

        2. From the reading I’ve done, it is usually at least 6 months after the original trauma before they go in and release those darned sticking tendons. It’ll happen!

  2. I was wondering what was going on . . . your writing is lucid, there aren’t as many mistakes, you’re using proper sentence structure and even correct punctuation. I thought maybe you had fallen and hit your head, but no . . . just good-old-fashion drugs.

    The wonders of modern medicine.

  3. I can almost hear ASIO re-reading all your blogs, and plotting a break and enter at dawn to catch the Big Drug Lord.
Best find a phone number for a very, very good barrister.
Meanwhile, enjoy the pain free days.

  4. For a good night’s sleep every night, it’s worth it (IMHO). If it’s also relieving your shoulder discomfort, all the better.

  6. I was given Endone once after foot surgery. Had to come off it after a few days as I could feel that I was getting a drug high, Could be in strong pain one moment, and wrapped in cotton wool the next, and I could feel it flowing through the blood system. I could understand how easy it would be to get addicted. Just as well you aren’t driving – double demerits have already started for the long weekend.

    1. Thank you Derrick, they are so far and I’m no longer getting any side effects after the third night. I agree with you about the photos but I’m not sure my family would approve, that’s if they ever come check on me; and I don’t like to think I’d bore people anymore than I already do with my ramblings.

  11. Quite an adventure with these wonder pills. Sounds a bit like me on Trazodone, and certainly on Seroquel. I hope you continue to, er, enjoy them. I could not help but read Neill’s comment about meeting you at the Old Vic…fantastic! If I lived there, I would be a regular at a pub with such a great name.

  12. I’m definitely up for the family photos! And you have absolutely no excuse for posting them now that you have those little magic pills….which I’m assuming are not addictive. I still remember when I had my wisdom teeth pulled. The best part of the deal was the valium they gave me for pain πŸ™‚ ….until it wore off 😦
