Here we go again….

The Monday before ‘ANZAC Day’, I happened to turn on my mobile/cell phone, and surprise, surprise, I had a text message from Nurse Percy, who some of you have met on these pages, from time to time. It was a few days old, and was to remind me that I was overdue on my bi-annual blood test and to call her.

How could I not comply with the order? I immediately rang her on Wednesday, and made an appointment to see her  that afternoon  I was also a week late for my B12 injection, so I treated the matter as urgent, which is quite obvious.

Normally, when I go for injections, or have some blood removed it’s just Nurse Percy and me. No need to see the doc; this time a difference. On my arrival at the surgery, Nurse Percy came out and told me that Doctor Ping  wanted to see me.

Doctor Ping Nee Lee is new to the practice, been there a couple of months. Very young but highly qualified, one of her Professors was God  (Dr. Sandroussi) himself, need I say more? I have been one of her patients since she joined Doc Francis.

A minute or so later Dr Ping came along and told me to come into her room, it was not an invitation I could refuse.

She told me that she’d been going over my records and my blood was a worry,  and that I am still quite anemic, and there had only been a slight improvement since the gastrectomy, and besides having a full blood test, she wanted me to have another colonoscopy.

I told her that they wouldn’t do a full colonoscopy on me, something about me being ‘old’, and that’s how they found the cancer in my stomach. They had to go in from the top as well as the bottom.

Dr Ping was not to be thwarted. I was instructed to conduct 3 tests, over three days, the gory details of which I wont bore you with (much as Vicki wants to be bored). The specimens were to be returned immediately, so they could be analyzed, or whatever it is they do with specimens.

I asked if she thought that I’d got my old chum back, she said that the thought had crossed her mind; so I told her okay if it’s back, no more knives and forks we’ll just let nature take it’s course, she said fair enough. Dr Ping is, as you have probably worked out, of Chinese descent, she is however a dinki-di Aussie and she only speaks Australian, she means English but dinki-di Aussies don’t seem to realize that. 🙄 O_o

After this half hour of being admonished, I was handed over to Nurse Percy who promptly removed some blood and pumped the B12 into me. Gave me the 3 phials and instructions both verbally and in writing, no chance of not doing it properly, and off I went.

That was last Wednesday! 😦

Yesterday afternoon, my wife did the honours, and took the specimens back to Nurse Percy.

This afternoon/evening Nurse Percy rang me on my mobile/cell phone, which for reasons unknown happened to be switched on, and told me that Dr Ping wanted to see me as soon as possible. I find it very hard to hear anything on these phones, so I asked her to speak to Kerry and give her the instructions.

Naturally being a woman my wife wanted to know the results and naturally Percy being a woman told her.

Seems there was blood in all the specimens and  Doctor Ping was concerned, and wanted to see me as soon as possible.

For  reasons beyond my control I will not be able to attend the surgery until next Wednesday, much to Percy’s disgust, however it cannot be avoided.

I suppose this is why I’ve been feeling somewhat unwell and very tired of late; well I’ll find out soon enough and I’ll probably do another boring post to make Vicki happy 😈

🐻

When I get around to it I have some very good news to report, I’ll endeavour to do it tomorrow sometime. 😀 👿

  1. What an admirable attitude! I don’t think I could be so positive in light of the health challenges you face. Take good care.

    1. Thanks Diane, you’d probably surprise yourself and have exactly the same outlook. I never look at heath issues as a challenge or a problem, just a damned nuisance and inconvenience to my enjoyment of life.:0

    1. Thanks GP, I must admit I get a bit annoyed with myself for rambling on about this, seems to me that I’m just making excuses for my negligent behaviour towards those that take the time and make the effort to comment.on my posts. XD

        1. It’s not a matter of worrying GP, it’s a matter of doing the right thing, bit old fashioned I know, and I know you’d be doing the exact same thing as I am. 😀

  5. For what it’s worth, I concur with your plan (it’s what I would do, so you know it must be right).

Meanwhile, hope things don’t go that way and that this bump is just a temporary setback.

a post I did a year after the op. He is the son of Lebanese migrants and speaks two languages. English and Arabic. So god is an Arab, that’s a turn up for the books. 👿
Like me he’s an atheist and a socialist and we get on very well, both paid up members of the ALP. He thought it would be a good idea if I ran for leadership of the party as we’re both not happy with it, he said he’d run my campaign but at 80 years when he suggested it I thought perhaps I was too young. 😈
