Not The Water Babies; but…………….

……………………………………….my water babies.

With summer officially over, my two little granddaughters, are about to hang up their flippers. Well at least one of them, Ruby, is!

This summer, just past, she started learning to swim, and took to it like the proverbial duck.

Which is not surprising really. Her daddy is a great one for swimming. He actually swims in the ocean. That’s the Pacific Ocean! You know the one I mean, the one with lots of sharks and jellyfish that sting you to death, and if they don’t get you well there’s always plenty more that will have a go at you.

Ruby can now swim several metres, which is several metres more than her dear ol’ grandpa and what’s more, she has now started to dive! Yes indeed actually diving head first into the pool.

Unfortunately, I don’t have any pictures of that, but here are just a few with one of Poppy May, watching on with great interest.

The pool where Ruby attends will be closing down soon for a short period and she will be there ready to dive in head first as soon as they re-open.

  1. What a gorgeous smile Ruby has! She’s going to break a lot of boys’ hearts. No doubt Poppy will too.

  3. Being a grandparent is God’s way (or nature’s way if you wish) of paying you back for all the crap that happened before. They are worthy of being lauded.

    1. Who’s god? Being an atheist I believe it’s my daughters way of making up for all the crap, hang on , my children were always a delight, well behaved and mannered.
It’s pity they grow up.They were happy times

  4. It’s good that you could take these pics. That would not be allowed in a public pool over here, even if the children are your own

    1. The way things are going around the world I suspect that it’s only a matter of time Derrick; sad to say, the freedom I’ve known for the past 66 years is slipping away.

    1. My condolences Lisa 😥

Granddaughters are the best to have especially if you’re a grandpa 🙂

One grandson to keep the name alive would be nice.

My son Nathan Sebastian is the last living male Smith when I die, with the chance to do the right thing, but he doesn’t appear to be in any hurry,

Shame really he’s 36 come Christmas. I think the line will now peter out.

      I did my best 😦

      Thank you Lisa 🙂 🐻

  6. Thanks for sharing the family photos! The girls are as cute as buttons! They must have gotten it from your spectacular genes? I agree with John–grandchildren are our payback/reward for all the agony of being parents! It’s amazing how much more fun it is to be a grandparent than a parent. 🙂

    1. Ruby the eldest is the spit of her daddy, so I accept no kudos for her good looks, she shows signs of being exceptionally brilliant, and I’ll accept credit for that 😈

Poppy May, is much more like her mummy, in appearance, and has now decided that she is the Alpha female and rules the roost; even though she cannot speak properly yet.

So she definitely takes after her grandpa 👿 🐻 XD
